The National Women’s Political Caucus of California (NWPC CA) will host the dynamic NWPC CA Biennial State Conference: Meet, Train, WIN! October 8 –10, 2010 in Fresno, CA. All women and men with a passion for recruiting, training and electing progressive, pro-choice women are invited to attend.
Saturday, October 9th boasts a brilliant group of speakers and workshops. The day begins with a breakfast panel “Framing the Issue of Choice” which includes Patsy Montgomery of Planned Parenthood, Kathryn Forbes, Professor of Women’s Studies at California State University Fresno, and Alice Powell, long-time advocate for women’s rights.
During lunch, Secretary of State Debra Bowen will present “Election Results You Can Trust” - focused on reforms she has made or is supporting to ensure the integrity of the California election process; Rachel Michelin of CWL will present details if the California Women’s Appointment Project; Christine Pelosi, political strategist and daughter of Speaker Nancy Pelosi, will be the special guest at the evening VIP wine reception from 6 – 8 PM. She will provide an inside view on the current election rhetoric and share her insights on the elections of progressive candidates this year.
Other attendee activities include “NWPC CA 2.0: Using Social Media to Increase Membership and Fundraising” workshop on Saturday afternoon - providing user-friendly information on how to effectively use social media. NWPC will hold its renowned Campaign Training: Women Winning Campaigns during an all-day workshop on Friday, Oct. 8th.
Leading up to the conference will be an 83rd birthday roast and toast for long-time caucus member Mary Stanley, with special guest Alice Germond, Secretary of the Democratic National Committee. This evening will also celebrate the 35th anniversary of the NWPC Fresno caucus. Dinner and a silent auction are included in the evening festivities.
